Whole Foods Discontinuing Use of Plastic Bags

I heard on the news today that Whole Foods Market has decided to discontinue the use of plastic bags at the checkout aisle. They are encouraging the use of either paper bags - which are made of recycled paper and can be reused, or reusable bags which can be purchased there (and are made from recycled plastic).

We made the switch to reusable bags over the summer, and actually prefer them. They are easier to carry, hold more, and the fact that they are better for the environment is a bonus.

Earth Day 2008 (April 22nd) is the date that the plastic bags will be discontinued. Even if you don't shop at Whole Foods, you should consider buying reusable bags.

We like the bags from:

Flip and Tumble (see our Flip and Tumble review at Mom's Favorite Stuff)
Skeeda (http://www.skeeda.com/)
And just about anything at http://www.reusablebags.com/
