Things I learned at the Mom 2.0 Summit

Here's a list, in no particular order, of things I learned at Mom2Summit

  • Fancy suites at the Four Seasons in Houston have a bidet
  • If there is a professional basketball player at the hotel, Yvonne will find him
  • When you spend all day at a conference and just want to relax in the hotel room, housekeeping will be there when you show up (but they will refer to you as Mrs. Grundig)
  • The MacBook Air is so cool - want one!
  • I am slightly taller than Devra

  • Tweetdeck rocks
  • Nathan Pacheco from Yanni Voices is a good sport, even when faced with a nursing bra tossed at him
  • The Four Seasons doesn't have nearly enough electrical outlets to accommodate a blogging conferences
  • Cyclone Anaya in Houston is a huge hotspot. But don't tell 5 bloggers that it will take 20 minutes for their table if it's actually going to take 60 minutes. Because they will start invading your space
  • The doorman at the aforementioned Cyclone Anaya gets very crabby after a full day of opening the door. But, he does take a good picture, even if forced to.
  • Cheeseburgers and Hurricanes taste good together
  • The staff at the Four Seasons will try really hard not to laugh when they see a group of women walking through the lobby with boxes of cheeseburgers and bags on their heads

Day 2: From Guy Kawasaki to Chris Mann

Umm... it's a long story?? And Chris Mann really isn't 7 feet tall.

Day 2 of the Mom 2.0 Summit rocked! From the keynote speech with Karen Walrond and Guy Kawasaki (Karen asked Guy some GREAT questions) to the expert round tables, the time just flew by!

The Carnivale party at Warehouse Live was a great end of the day. We were entertained with two local Houston singers, as well as Sony artist Chris Mann - (pictured above with the bag on his head). Yvonne, Lindsay, and Isabel hosted CheeseburgHER, after the main party - (which is where the BK hats and bags come in).
Editorial note - want to read more about the origin of CheeseburgHER? Read about it on Suburban Turmoil.

More on day two later....

Day 1: Mom 2.0 Summit

I left for the Mom 2.0 Summit from Boston at 9:40am, on one of the most roundabout way to Houston possible (with the exception of my return flight). I unfortunately developed a cold right before I left, so I had to take some Sudafed so that my head wouldn't explode on the flight. The good news -- my nose was nice and clear. The bad news -- the large man next to me smelled very, very bad...

After 20 minute layover in Charlotte where I scarfed down a combo meal from Bojangles (mmm..... spicy fries, fried chicken biscuit, sweet tea), I was on my way to Houston. Upon arrival, I got a text from Ciaran (aka @momfluential) that she was waiting for me at baggage claim. I've "known" Ciaran online since 2006, but have never met her in person -- but we were just like old friends once we met.

A quick cab ride later, we were at the Four Seasons. Since the room we requested wasn't available, we were upgraded to a suite. Ok, so we were a bit confused and actually were annoyed for a second, until we realized what we had exactly been given!

The first night reception rocked! Of course, I was dressed boring Boston business casual while C looked like a rock star, but that's ok. I met some amazing women, all of whom I will link to later, and had a great time. After the reception, C and I hit the piano bar, because we are at the Four Seasons, they have a piano bar, and the pianist was playing the theme from Arthur. So, we had to do it!

More on day 2 later..
