Leeanthro over at Soy is the New Black has started Monday Miscellany, a collection of thoughts that don't necessarily warrant their own blog posts. I decided to play along - here's what's on my mind this week.
- I've really been wanting to talk about the Walmart Mom Vlogger program, but have held my tongue. I think Kim pretty much said it all for me, except the fact that as of their last annual filing, Walmart had $5.6 billion in cash and cash equivalents - couldn't they have spared a bit to paid the moms? It's just frustrating that they knew they could get some great mom bloggers to work for nothing (Full disclosure: I know and highly respect several of the moms involved, and I can't say I would have made a different decision if I was asked).
- After being a die hard PC user for my entire computing life, I am considered the switch to a Mac. I'm just sick of how unstable Windows is, and how slow my fairly new computer is.
- Summer colds are just a cruel joke, especially to a mom.
- Are Wii's still seriously this hard to find? My husband and I have been thinking of getting one, and they are impossible to come across.

Thanks for playing along!
It would have been nice if Wal-Mart had paid those women. Had I been approached it would have been a hard call. I would love that kind of exposure, but then again I don't shop at the evil empire!
I am a Mac user. My husband shocked me the other day by saying that he wants to get a Mac Mini for himself instead of replacing his horrible PC with another. We hate that thing and want to throw it out the window. All he does is surf and I think he gets viruses all the time. No worries about viruses with a Mac!
We have a Wii but mostly I just use the Fit Balance Board. I bought hubby a Silver Surfer game on clearance. The sports are fun too. I tried to get my daughter the Diego or Dora games for her birthday but the store was sold out.
Thanks for the shout-out on the Wal-Mart issue. Considering they could have paid a few thousand dollars and looked respectable, they are only adding to their evil emprie image. I would not have done it for them, but maybe would have cut a raw deal with a different company. (Hmmm. maybe I have...). I hope our friends do well and get what they want out of their exposure.
As one of the 11 vloggers, perhaps you will consider my perspective. One of the reasons I accepted the project was the fact that since I am not being paid, I am not "selling my soul" to Wal-Mart.
I can vlog about anything I choose, and do not even have to mention WM. My passion is helping others save money.
A few thousand dollars may make WM look respectable according to Kim, but I would look like a sell out to my readers.
Alyssa - thanks so much for posting your opinion. It's great to hear your perspective also. I can definitely see your point of view. Best of luck with it - I hope you get loads of exposure
