Several years ago, when we bought and moved into our new home, I had the locks all redone. The locksmith was extremely helpful, and suggested that we choose locks that required a key to lock from the outside, so that we wouldn't lock ourselves out (or have the kids lock us out). So, imagine the locksmith's surprise when I called him from outside my home, with my two kids, locked out.
Clearly, this shouldn't have been possible. My kids were at school, and I was attacking my long to do list - cleaning and organizing my basement, and printing out my True Learning curriculum for the kids. Just as our cleaners arrived to clean the house, my printer ran out of ink. I decided to leave early and stop at Staples on my way to pick up my kids.
Leaving my keys in the house, I ran out the door without locking it. I didn't check to see if I had my house keys (which yes, are separate from my car keys) assuming they'd still be there. Of course, when I arrived less than an hour later, they weren't and had locked the door (on a sidenote, Staples also didn't have my printer ink). Thankfully, I had my iPhone, so I was able to look up the locksmith number online, call, and then entertain my kids with music I had stored on the phone. They played "dance party" to the Chipmunk movie soundtrack while we waited.
Locksmiths aren't cheap, but I was more than happy to pay whatever necessary! And, next time, I'll make sure I have my key!

Oh, I've had those kind of days. Hopefully it will go better tomorrow. Good thing you had the locksmith's number. I've heard of locksmith scams where they charge desperate people up the wazoo in cases like this.
