So, my daughter's 4th birthday was on Sunday, and this was the first offsite, kid party I've ever organized. My daughter actually selected the location - she wanted a gymnastics party and wanted to have it at the same place where she'd taken classes.
It wasn't the cheapest event, but it was probably a good deal, considering a bouncy house rental wouldn't have been much less. I thought having a party offsite would be so much easier, and of course it was, but I still had so much to do. The gym supplied almost nothing - we had to bring paper supplies, including tablecloths, our own knife to cut the cake, all of the food...
We hadn't been to a party at this particular gym before, and I didn't know what to expect. I was required to use their invitations, because they had a release form on the back that each parent had to fill out. Parents were only allowed in the observation area, not the gym, and I wasn't entirely sure that the parents would be okay with that. But, they weren't just okay, they were absolutely estatic!
Favors were another challenge. I didn't want to spend a ton, but I hate giving junk. Lucky for us it was back to school season, and I was able to put together a pencil case with glue sticks, a pad of paper, crayons, and a few markers for less than $2.25 each!
What a relief that it's over.... and I finished up the last thank you card today!
