Weddings in Review

My husband and I went to a wedding this past weekend. We've been to at least 50 weddings, between family, friends, and co-workers, and this wedding got us to thinking about a whole bunch of the good, the bad, and the ugly events in our wedding-going history.

So, here is a list of our memorable events - comment below with your own:

  • Our own wedding, of course, which was near perfect from beginning to end. We had one little hiccup when my limo driver had my wedding party get out of the limo in advance, then got in the limo alone with me and decided to tell me about what my new husband would be "expecting" when we got to our hotel room. For some reason I thought he was about to attack me, and freaked out a little bit.
  • At another wedding, we had to purchase drink tickets from one room, and then use them at the bar - they had different tickets for soda, wine, premium beer, domestic beer, etc.
  • At one absolute picture perfect wedding that was unfortunately during playoff season, the bartender had a mini-TV hidden under the bar, and most of the male guests were constantly sneaking peeks.
  • Another wedding had a very memorable moment when the bride grabbed the microphone to show off her new singing talent. She had been taking lessons, and sang a very off-key love song.
  • At another wedding, the wedding photographer had invited his girlfriend to attend also, then he abandoned his camera on a table and started dirty dancing with her.
  • One of my friends had cancer when she got married at age 26 -- her father made the most heartfelt speech about the groom and how he had stood by the bride when he could have left. There wasn't a dry eye in the room.

Thank you for the laugh....I'm remembering that off-key bride. Gosh was that awful. Almost as funny as seeing a certain grandma in the congo line.
