I'm lucky in that I've never been considered officially overweight. But, I can definitely say I do not look the same as I did in college -- sometime in my mid-twenties, my amazing metabolism decreased and suddenly I couldn't eat whatever I wanted. Having kids didn't really hurt too much, but it certainly didn't help.
Now that I have a little more time to myself, it was importantly to me to start losing weight and just get more fit. I have no excuses now.... So, starting around Labor Day, I began a routine of working out 5-6 times a week, and watching what I eat.
To be honest, many of my workouts are on my Wii Fit - both the original Wii Fit game and now the Jillian Michael's Fitness Ultimatum. I find that I can get a great workout, and it's easy and convenient to use. The rest of my workouts are with free weights, or just good old-fashioned running outside.
I've lost a very small amount of weight, but lots of inches, and at least one size. I feel better - more energetic, and better about myself. I'm not going to be embarrassed the next time I put on a swimsuit, or when my doctor asks me if I exercise. I'm down past my lowest weight in almost 7 years!
Now, I have to keep it up. I have a problem with committing to exercise. Once I find an excuse one day, I know it will be easier for me to find other excuses. The upcoming holidays will be especially difficult -- lots of fattening foods, and many, many excuses. But, if I can make it to January, I know I'll have a routine for life!
